Baptism

Over the years I have been a part of conversations (or maybe just listening in😜) that contain a phrase that goes something like this: “I don’t want to drink milk. I want the MEAT OF GOD'S WORD.”

This is always in reference to scriptures found in the book of Hebrews that encourage us to go on to maturing in and applying the Word of God in our lives.
As I listen to this type of dialogue I find myself asking the Lord, “Is this person ready for solid food, or would it give him a tummy ache?”

While it is necessary and vital that we go after the deeper truths of scripture, we can’t press in if we aren’t ready. The question is..... “How do we know if we are ready for solid food and not just milk?”

The answer is very plainly identified in scripture and no matter how much we want to think that we are ready, sadly most of the time we aren’t. And the result is that many folks are not digesting the word properly.

If you have a child and you are trying to ween him off of his mother’s milk and he has problems with processing the more complex food, would you keep giving him the “nutrition" that keeps him sick and throwing up? He will end up malnourished if you don’t use wisdom. Sometimes children want mommy and daddy’s food, but we are smart enough and we love them enough to prepare food just for them. Maybe it’s time to do that with spiritual things 🤔🤔
