Sunday Morning Service

Aug 13, 2023    Pastor Darren

Spiritual gifts has historically been a divisive subject within the body of Christ. Some have said that they have ceased altogether but the rest of us (if we’re honest) aren’t satisfied with the rare occurrences that we experience the manifestation of the Spirit.

In this message I will go into the Apostle Paul’s first letter to the believers at Corinth. In chapter 12 he describes what is called the manifestation gifts of the Holy Spirit. They differ from other giftings such as the Ephesians 4 leadership gifts or what is called “Motivational Gifts”, which are more tied to natural tendencies. One example of a motivational gift would be hospitality. Certain people exercise this type of gift more than others. It seems to be just how they are but when they allow themselves to be motivated by Holy Spirit’s leading then their hospitality goes to a whole new level.

But in this hands on teaching I want to reveal the manifestation gifts or the surprises of the Spirit. The reason I refer to them as surprises is that they are “as the Spirit wills”.( 1 Corinthians 12:11)

At the conclusion I want to give our congregation the opportunity to allow themselves to be used by the Spirit to manifest the power of God through us. This will allow some of our more seasoned brothers and sisters to assist some of our newer believers in the “how to’s” of ministry.

And who know’s...... we just might get a SURPRISE!!!
